Just a curiousity question. What is DVL's size when full? How many surface acres?

Not enough to handle a ONE HUNDRED boat tornament!!! I don't know the acerage. Still a good lake to fish.
Re: DVL Acreage
According to the MWD web site (http://www.dvlake.com/general_info02.html):
"Diamond Valley Lake can hold 800,000 acre-feet of water"

Re: DVL Acreage
i believe it is 4,500 surface acres at full pool
Re: DVL Acreage
Thanks Buddy, that's what I was looking for. I was watching Bassmasters this morning and heard them call Olds Hickory "Very Small" by BASS standards at 22,000 acres. While that may be small by their standards, it's huge by mine. DVL is the biggest lake I have been on so far.

intresting fact
old hicky is only 467,000 acre feet of water that means dvl could fill it up ALMOST 2 TIMES thats a ship load of water.
Re: DVL Acreage
1 acre foot of water equals approx 326,000 gallons of water. An acre foot of water is one square acre 12" deep. Reaching depths of 260' the full pool of DVL is approx 270 billion gallons of water.tunaman wrote: "Diamond Valley Lake can hold 800,000 acre-feet of water"
DVL is larger in volume than Lake Havasu and took over 4 years to fill. This reservoir will hold as much water as combining Castaic, Mathews, Pyramid, Perris and Skinner into one and still have room left over.
It is happening right before our eyes. The drought we are currently in is the worst in history and it does not look like it going to get any better. For those of us who work in the water industry we have been experiencing the all time lowest underground water levels in history for the past 5 to 6 years running. It is almost to the point where we can longer pump ground water and still make a profit due to the increasing cost of power it takes to lift water from depths that are well below our reach. Right now the underground water levels are lower than ever recorded and summer just started. It is simply drying up!
It wont be long until this precious rescource will rival the cost of other commodities such as power and fuel. It wont be long, Mark my words.....
Later; Big Ed!
Re: DVL Acreage
You need to check the avg. depth of old hickory compared to the avg. depth of d.v.l.
Old Stingy is shallow with just a river channel for depth. The creek arms, some over 4 miles in length also are shallow with just a deep channel. Deep being in the 30 ft. range.
