flippin stick ?
flippin stick ?
Who makes a flippin' stick like the Powell or Dobyns with a telescopic handle? I have been told they don't make one, but I want the lighter rod without the forward cork.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: flippin stick ?
You can't have a telescopic flippin' stick that's lightweight at the same time. The beefier reel seat and extra blank section of telescopic flippers add weight. Those old style tele flipping sticks seem pretty heavy and clumsy when compared to the one-piece versions currently on the market...Trace wrote:Who makes a flippin' stick like the Powell or Dobyns with a telescopic handle? I have a 7'6" loomis glx flippin stick that is telescoping. I don't recall the number off hand but they don't come any lighter or beefier than this rod. I'll check the number on it tonight when I get home and post it tomorrow.

Lamigals does. They are the models that start with xft.

I have one that is about ten years old. Still love it, though the new ones are lighter now. Lamiglas makes quality rods for sure.

I use these two:
Magnesium: http://www.kistlerrods.com/p/KR/c-/MgADFPSH78T.html
Graphite Plus: http://www.kistlerrods.com/p/KR/c-/KFRST76.html
Kistler makes a telescopic rod in 8' and 7'6" with a price for either end of your budget.
They also offer the Helium LTA, lighter but a bit more $$$

The Kistler magnesium is extremely light and stronger than you will probably ever need..A great rod for the price..

Re: Fenwick
Forgot to post yeaterday, the rod I use and love is a Loomis FSR-905X, 7'6" Heavy - Mod Fast Action - 14 to 25 Lb. line - 1/4 to 1 1/2 oz. - GLX
Re: Fenwick
Got a couple of the HMGs myself, and a HMX, and like them. I don't get to do a lot of flippin' down here, but I also use them as jig sticks and they work well... good sensitivity, power and balance.

Re: Fenwick
I may be wrong Randy but I think they stopped making the 905X GLX Flippin Stick..I broke mine last year and they had to replace it with the 904 IMX..Awesome rod..plus they gave me credit for the extra money I had spent. I may be wrong but it is late and I cant call to confirm they make it anymore. Get the 904 IMX.
