What a awesome show :!: The underwater shots were great, the speed of a Bass is unreal. Dotty was the world record at over 25+ lb's when she was caught to bad it was hooked outside the mouth. KVD is an animal when it comes to Pro Bass fishing. If you get a chance this is a must see.

I caught the last 45 minutes of the show yesterday evening, then recorded it when it was on later. Great show, though. I don't think the guys showed any disrespect toward Dottie, but to each his own.

This show is exactly the type of thing that this sport needs to show the public what we're all about, and why we spend thousands a year at the tackle shop, and countless hours on the water chasin' "America's greatest freshwater fish". Definitely a must see.

P.S. It's no coincidence that the three anglers fishing for the largest living bass (known to man) are outfitted in G. Loomis gear.... =)

I thought it was a great show all around. I don't think they showed any disrespect for Dotti when they could have lied and said she was legally caught when they had the chanch. They didn't which says they respected the fish and the challenge that went with trying to legitimently catch her.

It was a great show. I was glad that all the controversy that went
with Dotty was left on the cutting room floor. It was a great story
and was well done. We all got to see a world record fish both
in life and in death. Great job by everyone.

I think they were glad she died before someone else caught her, no disrespect just relief! It would suck to hold the WR in your hand and then let her go to be caught by someone else who showed up only after the fact to cash in! Good show.

What bothers me the most is that John Kerr and Mike Long get no recognition for the fish. If it wasnt for them no one would have even known she was in the lake. I think thats wrong that Mikes name wasn't even mentioned. Dang Bed busters anyway.

Great Show! The underwater shots were sweet and it makes me wonder why there have not been more documentaries done about bass? You can watch shows on piranhas, dingos, white tailed jackalopes, etc… but why not a good lengthy documentary on Bass? You would think that since it is the “fourth largest sportâ€

I'm aware of this bss's history. No one has ever listed factual data on the length and girth. IMO Dottie may not have weighed 25.1 lbs, or 22.7 lbs., the 2 weights listed for the day she was caught. The reason F & G needs to validate the weight and inspect the bass is to prevent the fish from gaining weight by swallowing something that isn't natural in the diet.
A giant bass should be over 29" to 30" long when measured with the mouth closed and have a girth the is close to 95 to 100% of the length, to be over 22 lbs.

30" is about right, just like factual actual measurements, dead or alive.

Dottie has been caught 3 times as a 20+ fish and weighed, scale samples, examined by the DFG and stored frozen. The largest bass ever caught. It is important to document the measurements accurately and to publish those facts along with the weight.

Thank you for the reply. I have read those numbers somewhere before and they don't add up, IMO. Mike Long is one of the honest trophy fisherman and those number are closer to a giant bass between 17lbs to 18 lbs. The body mass of individual bass is different and may vary 10% or so within the same numbers. A 20+ should be over 28" L with a similar girth. The difference could be in the method used to measure; mouth closed and up agianst a flat surface, measured down the lateral line to the end of the tail. The girth measured around the widest point with the dorsal fin down.
Live healthy giant bass are not easy to measure, so that is another factor to consider.
