I like the double Uni knot to tie two lines together. As for best braid, you are going to get many opinions. I like the Fireline Crystal, works the best for me. Bill K
Fun fishing the country, each and every week.

Double Uni for me too. Has never failed me yet. Course, I don't catch many fish so who knows......

Double albright......easier than uni to uni ( especially in the wind ).
Power Pro hands down !!! ( just my opinion ! ) and of course that depends on if shimano doesn't mess it up !

Doug. take a look at :
http://www.sportsmanschoice.com/termina ... _knots.htm
for the braid knot. This is a good for braid to jigs, hooks and lures.
Braid to leader; the double uni knot works OK. If you want a wind on knotless braid to fluoroleader, you need tubular hollow braid.
Let me know if that is what you are looking for.

Hey Doug:
U can check it out in the forums of theBBZ.com. I've just started using it recently, it seems easier ( for me ) and if tied correctly seems very strong with no slippage. Not sure about the " double" part, that's just what Bill Siemental refers to it as. Hope that clears up any confusion !

Check out Alberto's Knot for joining heavy mono/fluoro to braid. You will never use the uni not again for this application again. It is a modified albright knot.

Re: What's the best floro to braid knot? and best braid?
Best is a single over hand knot on blackwater hollow core. Power pro makes a hollow core that works to. Run your flouro inside the braid and tie one small over hand knot at the conection. Or coat it with aqua seal at the end after you pull it tight and let it chinese finger trap it. Just like a lead core, to leader knot trout fisherman have been doing forever.

Jeff, I never knew those knots were the same thing! Thanks

Re: What's the best floro to braid knot? and best braid?
Mark,
Thanks for sharing, its always good to see new ideas for knots.
Oddly though, this knot just seems to be about how you wind the line onto the loop vs. the albright.
In an albright, you wind toward the loop, whereas this knot starts at the loop and winds away, before coming back. Not sure i see the reason for so many extra windings.
Any thoughts on why you think this is better than just the Albright?
Thanks again,
Kopper

Re: What's the best floro to braid knot? and best braid?
Mark; no problem......as a newbie I just play fly and the wall and observe and learn, but sometimes it's fun just to throw my two cents in !
Re: What's the best floro to braid knot? and best braid?
Kopper, I was originally comparing the Alberto to the uni to uni knot. Before I got into bass fishing I had a fair amount of experience fishing saltwater and offshore in the blue water for fish like yellowtail and tuna. I know guys were using the Alberto or Albright knots for adding leaders to braid and had great results. I don't think too many fish can test your tackle like they do in the blue water offshore. I used to use uni to uni but feel the knot is more cumbersome to tie and has a bigger profile when it is complete. A friend of mine heard Alan Fong mention the Alberto in one of his seminars quiet a while back and reminded me of this knot. Brambo and Old School have a great point about the hollow core braids- lots of serious offshore guys seem to prefer them now but that stuff is expensive.
Re: What's the best floro to braid knot? and best braid?
Been using the uni-to-uni ever since it came out, for my saltwater needs. I've adopted it for my bass fishing needs, and it has served me well since.
As for the hollow braid - I use Line One hollow braid with various topshot flourocarbon leaders for most of my International and Daiwa Saltist setups for my heavy lifting, and lightweight work, and it works well. Must seize the connection, though, and the adhesive/super glue is pretty important insurance.
