Sheriff's patroling the Delta today

Post by Lugnut »

Just wanted to say Thanks. My fishing partner and I pulled up to a point on the main channel, accross from Disapointment. About 30 seconds later I see a Whaler type boat ripping toward us. About the time I ask my partner if it's the sheriff. They pulled up, asked for our license's, a little small talk, and they were off. I seen them stopping a couple boats in Disapointment, but then they were on there way. I am sure they might have ruinned the day for a few folks, but it was nice to see them out there.
Don't ask about my username, all I need to say is check yours and check them often.

DFG was out there thurs checking for license and ect. They were blending in as they were on jet ski's. Keep your license visable, when they pull up it might be too late.

Out here in Antioch they are out all the time. Half the time they are cruising rught around the ramp so they can get you as soon as you leave or when your coming in. I personally think they should just let people go about their business unless they are acting like idiots on the water. Last time I was stopped they gave me a ticket for my anchor light being out, and they saw that I had it on on the way in. The bulb went out right as I was turning in to the ramp and it cost me $192. I cant stand the sherrifs on the water, but I do know theyr there to help. I just wish they would think like regular people instead of being complete a$$h@!#s. If I was a sherrif I would concentrate on the drunks in ski/wakeboard boats that dont care about anybodys safety on the water.....Most of the time they would get a dui instead of a minor infraction out of the stop, I know they always want to smell my breath. I think they get mad when they ask if I've been drinking and get "all day long" as a response then when I see theyr reaction I lift up the water bottle...... Maybee I should grub down an onion and a clove of garlic next time I see them headed my way, see how they like the smell of that!

On another note I do appreciate the DFG guys that are out there.....But every time I see them out on the delta they are just cruising. I have never run in to a game warden while on my boat to be checked for my license, and I hardly ever have it exposed(usualy under my shirt so its not flappin in the wind when I'm rippin' down the river)

Are we required to have our bow and stern light hooked up even during daylight hours? My lights are stowed away and I only put them out if I'm going to be fishing at night. Did you get ticketed during daylight hours?

thanks

Ok, my story is only minor related but does include a sheriff.

So, I was dating this girl and were coming back from Napa. I was driving her brand new BMW. We were on the 101 just going by the SFO airport and I got pulled over for doing 80 in a 65. Cop gives me a ticket for doing 75 in a 65, says he is going to keep me from getting a reckless ticket as 15 over is reckless. Plus, the officer gave her a warning to put her new liscence plate on.

I haven't had a ticket in 6 years so I thought my clean record would get me out with only a warning, wrong. Cost my $250.

Since then she and I went are sperate ways for reasons unrealted to the ticket. But, I was talking to her the other day and she told she got pulled over in the same place after having 5 glasses of wine doing 120 mph in a 65, music blasting, reading an email on her blackberry !!!!!!!! Get this, the cops only gave her another fix your liscence plate ticket. OMFG, how f-ing amazing. I bet I would have got thrown in jail for her actions.

Ok, rant over.

I am on the road 5 days aweek turning anywhere from 1000-2000 miles a week. I have seen the influx of cops patrolling triple in the last year. the state and the cities are BROKE they are trying to make money anyway they can.

I had to run a split load up to Fairfax then over to Lake Port(clear lake) last week. I took 101 over to the 178 into Lake Port now if any of you know 178 this is a goat trail on the side of a mountain but hey I did not want to burn the miles to 20 so I took 178 anyway I stopped in at Troy's and a gentelman told me the cops set up at the top of the mountain and use a helicopter to watch trucks if they cross the yellow by any noticble amount they pull you over at the top and ticket you!!! Some of these turns are at a 90 degree angle its impossible to not go over. Anyway I was lucky no cops set up that day, but they need cash and they are taking it from us.
