Can you wait a bit until I post from this morning's doggone-we-did-pretty-good trip?

Okay, so you don't have to wait totally: green pumpkin & Bama Bug were tops. So this isn't a total shill job....

C-Rig, watermelon seed baby brush hog or plain black lizzard. Split shot, green weenie or any holographic shad colors. Drop shot, greens, smokes, purples. Senko or Flick shake, greens and shad colors. Good luck!!

When you fish a c-rig are you generally moving the bait as you would a t-rig worm or are you letting it set still? It seems to me that fishing at 20-30 ft depths it is difficult to cast it out very far so once it sinks to bottom it is close to being under you and hard to move it much. Does this make any sense? Obviously I dont have much experience fishing this way. Would it be just as effective drop shotting or not necessarily?

Long casts are certainly part of the equation--and that usually means longer rods for the longer leaders. You may have to shorten your leader to match your gear. It's about horizontal coverage of the bottom.

There is no one retrieve, but typical is a "pull" of the tip--a horizontal moving of the rod from directly pointing at the sinker to 90 degrees left or right. On an irregular bottom, from the guys I watch, the standard lift and stop, like with the T-rig works. As with most methods, you move the sinker then pause. Some baits sink slowly, some float depending on what you use.

The bites vary from "What the heck!" to extra weight on the line, to "I felt something and now it's gone" when the fish picks up and swims toward you. I think you're in for a good time.

You said at the moment so I imagine that the old standby plastics are not working such as Aarons Magic, Oxblood, and purple punisher, and pumpkin seed on a C-rig, dropshot, or split shot.

I havnt been on that pond in over 5-6years but I cant imagine that the food sources have changed dramatically. The crawfish the kids cought along the riprap walls were VERY green, and pumpkin seed looking almost green to the point of chartreuse.

after you make the cast feed the line out with your hand until the bait hits the bottom then put you reel in gear. Your basically dragging a c-rig, long slow sweeps of the rod, finessing it over structure. Like george said long rods are key, 7'3 to 8'.

Tony and the guys pretty much covered it.

If all else fails, Oxblood no flake or with red flake 4.5" straight tail roboworm on a drop shot, 6lb line, works great too.

Tacklewarehousedotcom has the no flake ones.
