Now what?

Post by DL »

Is Lackey gone? Are he and Sciosia still pals?

Is Figgins gone? Does Figgy get 40 mil from someone? or does he give the Halos a hometown discount?

What about Vlad? Is he too broken down? or do his mental mistakes finally outweigh his hitting?

Winning breeds an expectation of winning. Yes, it was a good season. After all the team went through to make it to the ALCS is great. But to all but self destruct is unacceptable. Had the Angles played mistake free baseball I feel we would be waiting on game 7 tonight, and we may have already had our tickets for game one of the World Series. But that didnt happen, the Yankees took advantage of bad fielding, bad pitching, bad base running, and an overall lack of execution by a group of guys that were the complete opposite in the regular season...

This offseason is going to be one with a lot of change in Anaheim...Things wont get going until the winter meetings, but where do the Angels go from here?

Lackey will end up w the dodgers I bet

Fig will be a cub and will move to 2nd base or around to sub the ofield

The angels have a great young core of players to build around but there are some needs. I bet if you had a legitimate power hitter like a Holiday or even Dunn the outcome could be different. Vlad and Abreau are not cuttin it and are on the decline. Let Lackey and Abreau walk sign a hr hitter and roy holliday as an ace.

Could the holidays bring Halladay and Holliday ? ? If Lackey walks and Vlad doesnt come back....and Figgins signs elsewhere...Arte will have a grip of clams and prospects to spend on talent.

Who knows what the lineup will look like come April :D

I saw the following article this morning:

Abreu Rejects Angels' Extension Offer
By Luke Adams [October 16, 2009 at 2:25pm CST]
FRIDAY, 2:25pm: Heyman says Abreu turned the Angels' offer down.

THURSDAY, 8:34pm: The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim offered Bobby Abreu a two-year extension worth about $16MM, according to SI.com's Jon Heyman (via Twitter). Heyman indicates that Abreu is looking for a better offer, coming off an extremely productive season for the Angels.

Abreu, who turns 36 in March, hit .293/.390/.435 with 15 homers and 30 stolen bases in 2009. Last winter, the right fielder signed a one-year deal worth $5MM (plus incentives, which have earned him another $1MM so far), making the Angels' offer of about $8MM per year a moderate pay raise. However, given the lack of elite hitters on the free agent market this offseason, besides Matt Holliday and Jason Bay, Abreu is clearly banking on receiving more alluring offers.

Do you expect the Angels to pony up the money it'll take to retain Abreu, or will he be wearing a different uniform in 2010?

Looks like Abreu might be gone too... :?
