Hello out there.... I hear an echo... echo... echo.... :-)

Post by Fish Chris »

How funny is this ? I posted my couple of rants this morning (of which I still feel very strongly about every word) then all day at work I was totally concerned that somebody might have taken me wrong.

So I come home... get straight to the PC, and almost nothing ? {Thank you B.Cline... your right that a quality Spotted Bass fishery is better than a poor, stunted one}

So now I'm sitting here wondering, is it that every single one of you just totally agree with me ??? That would be a first ! :-) Or, is it that you think I'm full of it, but you don't want to argue ? Look guys, I promise I won't make fun of the glitter on your boats ;-)
If there is anybody here, who thinks that anything I have said in my other two posts is not dead on, please, lets discuss it.

Again, I think we all want the same thing.... quality fisheries with a shot at a good one, right ?

Great fishing to all of you guys,
Peace,
Fish

Chris,

To tell you the truth I can see where you are coming from.You, likeing to catch monster largies(then again who doesn't) are upset to see the waters that could hold those toads being overrun by spots. On the other hand we have people who maybe, don't hunt trophy bass, that are trying to improve their spotted bass fisheries....nothing wrong in both cases.. I guess I really dont see the arguing point in all of this :?: ...sounds to me like two grops who just want to improve or manage fisheries.

just my 2 cents

I think that there is one fact that we all have to accept

Post by Jim Conlow Sr. »

That fact is that its highly unlikely that spots will ever be eliminated from any major lakle wher they have a good start.
That having been said, I think that a person can become a trophy Spot fisherman and deserves respect for an ability to catch Spots in access of some weight such as 5 lbs or better. Spots, Smallmouth, Northern strain and Florida strain are all seperate breeds and what is a trophy for one is not for another.
Since Spots in Oroville and other lakes are a fact of life the management needs to be such as to serve the largest needs among the people who fish the lake. Not just tournament or trophy fishermen, or fun fishermen, but also those who are trying to put some protien on the table.
I think the number one priority should be to determin the greatest need and then prioritize the management around that need as long as it fits in with the primary reasons that the Dam was built in the first place. Flood control, power generation, irrigation, domestic water supply, and recreation, etc.
