Kyle Rassmussen breaks his own Melones spot record
Kyle Rassmussen breaks his own Melones spot record
Kyle caught this 7.97 pound beautiful spot on Superbowl sunday. IMHO Kyle is the best spot fisherman on the west coast.

did he kill it?
Re: Kyle Rassmussen breaks his own Melones spot record
No..Why do you knuckleheads always ask that dumb question?

Re: Kyle Rassmussen breaks his own Melones spot record
I know beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, but out of clear water, I don't think there is a better looking bass than the Alabama spot. We used to see a lot of 6- to 8-pounders at Lake Perris back in the day. Today, everything is up North. This is one fine catch.

Re: Kyle Rassmussen breaks his own Melones spot record
hey Johnny C do you know me? then how can you call me a knuckle head? or do you always pop off like that...so you know i asked if he mounted it/killed it and i asked well cuz he is holding it on what appears to be land...it was just a question stop being such a little cry baby
Re: Kyle Rassmussen breaks his own Melones spot record
Most guys up there drive the fish up to Glory Hole Sports in the livewell for a picture and then transport it back down to the ramp to release it. That is where that pic was taken.
Re: Kyle Rassmussen breaks his own Melones spot record
No you actually have to weigh a lake record on a certified scale...if you ask a knucklehead question dont be pissed when you get called a knucklehead! Nice to see the spots in Melones are almost catching the spots in McClure! GREAT FISH Kyle!

That is an incredible spot.
Stretch1, I'm sure Johnny C was not trying to offend you. The question you asked appears on many of the threads containing pictures, and he was probably wondering why it is asked so often.

im sure he wasnt either im just a fan of being called names..lol..he could be the nicest guy in the world ive never met him but would you walk up tp a total stranger and call them names? i wouldnt when i caught my 8.06 smallie out of pardee a few years back i didnt even think twice and i released her but when people saw the pics they asked the same question did u mount it..the simple answer is no...not name calling maybe im just being a little sensitive bitch but still the golden rule applies....

fish are now replicated, not killed times have changed, those that have been to the ISE show and seen all the slmon stripers, and steelhead those are replica's. Take a picture measure and these guys are phnomial with how real it will be!
no need to kill for a mount any longer, just a FYI!

did he kill it?
Re: Kyle Rassmussen breaks his own Melones spot record
Camera , scale , seamstress tape, but if a possible record certified scales let er swim away..
the best way to catch a big one is don't lose um sharp hooks set drag retie!
Re: Kyle Rassmussen breaks his own Melones spot record
Nice fish, I'd be happy with one half that size.

Re: Kyle Rassmussen breaks his own Melones spot record
One reason the question seemed out of place is that Johhny C more than anyone else I can think of on this site rails against the meat-eaters and as far as I know is 100% catch and release.
I personally keep 5-10 trout a year and have sympathy for the idea of harvest, But I don't harvest bass personally.

Speaking of replicas. Anyone know of any good taxidermist in bay area or north. been thinking of mounting a fish. thanks
Nice fish by the way.
Nice fish by the way.
Re: Kyle Rassmussen breaks his own Melones spot record
That could be blamed on ignorance. The selective harvesting of certain size/year classes will actually enhance a fishery.calfisher71 wrote:Tournament Anglers Never kill fish on a lake they compete on!
Congrats to Kyle Rassmussen--that's a very impressive fish. And he held the previous lake record to boot!

I have one of his replicas and have sent a number of clients to Shasta Fish Mounts, Glen Smith. He does a great job, is very reasonably priced, and the service is excellent. 530.275.4321 Every client I have sent his way has been happy with the end result.
