Fluke question

Post by meach »

Been fishing more with flukes lately this season, and experimenting with which line to use, i have done braid/floro leader (swivel joining them) and straight floro..
Just trying to get some recommendations on what line you guys think give the bait the best "action" also if the swivel hampers the lure at all and if im better off with a uni to uni connection if i use a braid to leader set up.
Thanks in advance

Flouro keeps the bait down and low stretch equals good feel and hookset. A swivel enhances action and also helps keep the bait down in the zone.

I like the McCoy Floro 100 in 15 pound test for the larger Flukes.

The fluorocarbon helps me to get the Fluke down deeper than braid and floro has much less stretch than mono.
And I dont use a swivel or leader If I use braid with the Fluke

I might increase the hook size for more weight or insert a nail weight sometimes.

I fish these in the weeds allot and the weight helps to get down into the thick weeds.

I've been using 8lb fluro and a 4/0 or 5/0 hook. I frequntly use braid with flouro leaders, but maybe not on a tournament where retieing slows down. I also double fluke rigs.
