Launching ramp dangers?...A woman drove...
down the ramp at Vieira's up by Isleton and drowned in her car...Reading the report in the paper, sounds like she got mixed up and thought she was leaving the resort...Do all launching ramps have signs saying it is a launch ramp and highly visible at night...I remember this happening over around Emeryville a ways back where people think the ramp is a road and at night you can't tell the difference between the water and the road...I think ramps ought to be carefully posted that it is not a thoroughfare or road, for night safety...Another thing, I think it might be a good idea to have one of those window busters in your glove box just in case when traveling our delta roads and launch ramps...Might be a good seller in tackle shops...Report said the woman was talking to her daughter while the car was filling with water...Responses, welcome...
Re: Launching ramp dangers?...A woman drove...
How old was this woman?
She had the presence of mind to call her daughter but not get out of the car?
or roll the window down? Yes electric windows can work long enought to get it down to equalize the pressure in the car so you can get the door open.
This is an unfortunate event, but I have never heard of this happening before...anywhere.
Fortunately here in SoCal, we aren't subject to poorly lit, unmarked ramps. All of ours have locked gates in front of them and 2 miles of road behind the gate before you can get to the water...

Sounds like she could have saved her own life if she used some common sense...

Did they conduct a Quagga check on that vehicle before bringing it to impound?

She was lost and her daughter was giving her directions over the phone when she ran into the river. She made it out of the car and was found down river drowned. Must have been horrible for the daughter to hear.

Yeah that was a weird one. She told her daughter to call the insurance company while the car was filling up with water . I guess she thought she was gonna be ok, then something happened. D.B.COOPER

I guess that's why they say talking on a cellphone while driving is dangerous.
She must have been completely disoriented
