I have a nine year old Chronarch 100, the silver/white reel.
The aluminum nut that holds the handle on stripped out. I found this out when the handle looked cockeyed, and I took off the plastic cap.
Are those nuts still available, and, if so, how do I go about getting one?

they should be, but check your driveshaft and make sure that isn't stripped. If the nut was cross threaded it could well be.

Re: older Chronarch 100
Dan,
I checked the shaft, and the brass threads are fine. I think someone ( ) probably stepped on the handles when it was lying on the front deck. It's hard to blame someone else when I mostly fish alone.
I've had another reel handle nut strip, only it was brass, and did kind of mess up the shaft threads, but, fortunately, the aluminum nut must be much softer than the brass shaft on the Chronarch, and it's the only thing that got stripped.
It held well enough to fish with yesterday, and I caught a 4+ with in on a homemade swimbait.
If you know where I can get another nut, I would like to replace it. The gap filling crazy glue I used to temporarily fix the reel can't hold forever.

Dan,
You're a lifesaver. I tore up the garage looking for the old schematic, but I guess it got "filed".
Thanks again.

Re: older Chronarch 100
Dan,
Bad news, good news.
The bad news is that Shimano no longer stocks parts for reels that old.
The good new is that they gave me the number for Nutter Rod and Reel, in Georgia.
Joanne there is sending me two of them. The nuts are only $.80 each, but the shipping is $4. Figures.
Anyway, she was a big help, and having the part number really made it easy.
Thanks again.
