Speed sensor

Post by coachgilley »

Just bought a speed sensor for my lowrance and hooked it up. There is no reading on the screen. Do you have to enable it somehow or should it show up as soon as installed?

First, which Lowrance unit do you have? This will help me find the menu item you probably need to activate so the unit will recognize the speed sensor and display on the screen via overlay data.

On the X96, you need to go to the overlay data and choose "water speed" so the reading will show on the screen from the sensor you installed.

To do this hit menu and go down to "overlay data" and hit enter. Go down to "press ent to add" and hit enter. Then go down to "water speed" and hit enter. To get out of the menu hit exit twice.

Now you should have water speed on the screen and when moving you should get a reading. I think most of the speed sensors are also temp sensors. Go to overlay data and check water temp if it is not already on the screen.
