Insight, or Basemap ???

Would you please give me your opinion on the unit to buy ? I have a 19 foot Champion Elite, No jack plate. 200 hp Mercury, with 24 volt Minn-Kota. I live & fish the Delta, but also travel to fish lakes. I'll be fishing Clear Lake, Berryessa, Mead, Shasta, Amador, Havasua, and traveling back home to Oklahoma also.
I'm going to put the NEW HDS-10 at the console, The bow already had a LMS-520 c, but thinking about replacing it with a new HDS-8.
It's alot to ask, but would you give me a complete shopping list.

In my opinion if you are going to be traveling, Insight is the best option. Insight covers the entire country while Navionics maps only cover a part. You will not be satisfied with just the base maps. Might want to buy an Insight 10 for the console and a base map 8 for the bow. Not as much need for detailed maps on the bow unless you are a contour fisher. In that case go either Insight or base map plus Navionics Premium. Not sure what other info you are asking about. If you want to link the units, you will need to purchase an ethernet cable. Other than that everything you need comes in the box.

The Insight mapping that is preloaded into the HDS units is very good detail for the money in my opinion. The mapping packages available are Base Map, Lake Insight, Nautic Insight and Insight USA.

If you only fished inland lakes around the country the Lake Insight would be fine. Since you fish the Delta you will need the Nautic Insight also. Nautic Insight is all the navigable waters such as the San Joaquin Delta, Colombia River, Louisiana Delta, Mobil Delta, etc. and all the coastline of the US.

The combination of Lake Insight and Nautic Insight is the Insight USA package. This package has all the Nautic Insight areas and most all lakes across the country. If you were to purchase the Base Map option, you will save money on the initial purchase but spend more later getting mapping cards for all the areas that you may fish.
