Find me a Rod - $100 or less

Post by Rollins »

Hi All, Please help this Swimbait Rookie find a Rod on a budget. My price is around $100, as trying to get a decent rod to complete my first swimbait setup. I have a newer Curado 301 for the reel, and prefer a faster, crankbait style of fishing. Im not looking to throw huge monster baits, but your average swimbait. Any advice would be appreciated, all opinions accepted. Maybe next year I will be in the position to pick up a Dobyns or Loomis :D .

Thanks! Rollins

Nice choice on the reel...all you need to do now is find an Okuma swimbait stick that you feel will fit your style of fishing. I own a half dozen of them...bought them when they first came out and have never had a problem with any of them. Best bang for your buck on the market...no question. It seems like there's always one in the classifieds if you check this site and others. As you and others are getting into swimbaiting, there's always someone getting out. Brand new I think they're only $115 delivered to your door.

Okuma Guide Series IM8. Reasonably prices and a solid stick. I have a big curado on the GS-C-761XH and it throw 8 inch hudds and lunker punkers fine. Nice bang for your buck
