Thoughts on Fury Props?
I tore up my Tempest Prop yesterday and was wondering what you guys thought about the fury prop. I'm running a 02 518 Ranger with a 200 Optimax.
Re: Thoughts on Fury Props?
On my 21' triton, it gave me a better hole shot and it stayed on plan at a slower speed, but I lost 3MPH on top speed. I went with a balanced temptest plus and gained 2mph for a total of 5mph faster than the fury. I did not have a chance to try a balanced fury. So I guess its just what kind of performance you are looking for. I have heard they work better on lighter boats but dont know for sure. Good luck
Re: Thoughts on Fury Props?
On most boats the Fury will be faster. The Fury is 1.5 mph faster on my Ranger Z521. You may want to contact a Ranger dealer. A 24 Fury should work. You normally want to drop down 1 pitch from the Tempest to the Fury.

We have Fury demo props at the Modesto C & C Marine store.
I would recomend trying one before you buy as every boat performs diffrent.

Re: Thoughts on Fury Props?
I would take JIm up on the try before you buy program. My observations on the Fury on my Bass Cat Pantera are:
1400 lb hull
heavy tournement loads.
A much Better hole shot than a Tempest or Trophy
1 to 2 mph faster
Must be set a little deeper in the water
Blows out more on tight turns and cruizer wakes
Is more weight sensitive
Drives better, no chine walk and my Cat is very fast.
More fuel efficient
This prop seems to work best on light boats and boats that are easy to achieve good bow lift.
Go to Bass Boat Central and put up a post for Mark in the Prop section. I would think a modified Bravo II would work best on your Ranger.

Jim,
I too am in the market for a new prop. I have a Z520 with an Etec 250. Currently it runs what it came with, a 24" Raker II.
What Fury would you recommend and do you have one on the loaner program?
Ron

Re: Thoughts on Fury Props?
I had a Tempest on my Pro Craft for years and it was OK for that boat (200 HP) and the same for my Stratos. I purchased a new Stratos with a 225 Merc Pro XS with the Fury Pro and it flat out gets me on plane quicker than anything I have ever driven. I think it would be a good idea for me to go out and have it balanced and see how it operates. I have no complaints about how it works on my Boat.
Life is short enjoy each and everyday!
