I have a 70# MinnKota Maxxum Trolling motor with foot pedal steering.
It has started to squeek loudly whenever slight course corrections are made destroying any attempt a stealthiness.
Has anyone encountered this problem before and how did you fix it?
Thanks

Not enough info, but it could be the down tube that that motor shaft runs thru could be bent slightly, there is a plastic bushing inside that could be squeaking. Or if it is a squeak coming from the motor while it is running, rotational squeak, check the prop for damage on the back side at motor housing.

Re: Noisy Trolling Motor
It is not the motor when it is running and yes the noise is coming from the down tube.
So, is it a matter of greasing the inside of the tube, or replacing the bushing? Is that a part that needs to be or even can be ordered?
Thank you very much!

papajohn there are 2 allen screw at the pivot point where
the inner and outer shaft are. loosen them give the motor
a small shake and the bearing will drop down. on them you
want to apply grease. then push the collar up and torque
the allens down.
tallkan you have a broken pointer drive there cheap and easy to install.

Thanks MinnKotaMan,
I'll give it a try and let you know how it works.

Re: Noisy Trolling Motor
MinnKotaMan,
Dropped the bearing.
With the bearing out squeel stopped, absolutely silent when shaft rotated.
Greased bearing and pushed it back up. Still squeeled as loud as before.
Dropped the bearing cleaned it with Simple Green then put Yellow Rocket Fuel on it.
Pushed it back into place squeel returns.
Guess this means its time to buy a new bearing?
Thanks
