Top Stick Joe's debut March, 8 at Castaic Lake

February 12, 2009:

With the recent lake closures, water level issues, and the general condition of the economy, the Top Stick Joes has made a few minor modifications and improvements to the schedule. First and foremost, the season is a go as we have had a great response and the number of memberships is very good. But we will have to make a few changes to the schedule.

Change number one will involve the two regions, IE and So Cal. With DVL being closed and the threat of low water at Perris, we are going to merge the two regions into one Southern California region. Since the first date of the IE region falls so close to the first date in the So Cal region (Castaic) we are cancelling the Perris event on March 1st so we don’t force guys to choose or fish events so close together. The other dates from the IE region that are being cancelled are DV on March 29 and the DV event on May 31. These cancellations are a result of the low water at DV and the pending low water at Perris. While we hate cancelling events, we felt being proactive was a better option than being reactive. The April 26th event is still on schedule at Perris.

The dates for the So Cal region will remain the same and we will have one region where the top 20 teams qualify for the TOC. The dates of the Joe’s TOC will be announced shortly . In order to qualify for the TOC, teams will need to fish a minimum of four events to qualify. For the teams that fish all five events, we will throw out your worst event and use your best four finishes. Everyone will not qualify, but any team that fishes all five(5) events and DOES NOT accumulate enough points to qualify, their names will be put in a hat and pulled (raffle style) for two teams to go to the TOC as wild cards . This drawing will be done at the final event of the season, July 11 at Castaic. There will be a BBQ that day as well.

There will also be a great tackle package for the Angler’s of the Year, which will be announced as soon as it is finalized. Most likely consisting of a rod, reel, line baits, etc etc for both members of the AOY Team. In order to qualify for Angler of the Year you MUST fish ALL 5 events during the seasons.

If you have any questions or concerns, contact me, Ray Layerly at 714-308-2734 or John Barron at 909-263-7185

The complete schedule for all events can be found at http://www.scalenews.com. The dates on the site are correct, less the dates that have been cancelled due to the merge of two regions into one...
