Night Tournaments
So I want to fish some night tournaments this year. Maybe some FOCL and some of the Piru events. I have never fished a night tournament.
My question(s) are what additional equipment should I have prior to the event? Any tips, success stories or comments would be greatly appreciated.

A good quality LED "Headlight" with adjustable straps. Look at Basspro.

Thanks Steve, I have several of those which is nice. Hey I still have the box and stuff for that Daiwa if you still want it. Let me know. Thanks for your input.

You know I had forgotten all about it. If you still have it I'll take it. Give e a call.

Re: Night Tournaments
Some guys put a black lite in their boat some use a big spot lite. When I get ready for a nite tournament I pull out the sleeping bag and a pillow
While the participation is a little less at Piru the payout is much better. Between FOCL and the org that runs it they take a lot, from what I have been told about half is kept back.

Re: Night Tournaments
John Is correct. The FOCL events are fun...but way to low a payout.
My tip is to get a maglite mini and tape it to your net. Helps find that big girl when she comes up. John's blacklite idea is a good one as well. I have a hard time seeing at night and having something to back light what I am doing really helps...the blacklite worked for me.

Re: Night Tournaments
freeze some bottles of water and bring extra ice to put in the livewell in the hotter months, as well as some livewell additive.. a lot of fish die in nite tourneys
I have a jumpstarter charged and ready. the cranking battery is taxed w/ all the lights, livewell, electronics
5 hour energy drink for the last half of the tourney and the ride home.. I've dozed off at the wheel a couple of times on the way home..
keep your baits organized in a simple way= put all your night plastics in one container, all your nite hardbaits in one container, so you dont waste time looking for them,

And watch your step. At night, everything gets wet and slippery.

Re: Night Tournaments
Purchase a comfortable vest "Suspenders" type as the FOCL and Piru nights requires you to wear it all night.
