Kramer's Top 40 list is out...

Post by Brian D. »

Lots of old names you'll recognize as well as some new players that made the list for 2011.

Read it here:

Though 90% of the people on there are very deserving of the top 40, I believe the order in which some are listed leaves a lot to be desired! But, as always, it's just George being George! LOL

Shouldn't Bob Riehl be Rob Riehl?

If you call him Bob I don't think he'd answer :)

It most certainly should have been Rob Riehl, for which I am deeply sorry. If it appears incorrectly outside of my website, I take the blame. Spell check won't fix my error. Rob: My bad.

As for the Reynolds lobbyists, of course he was under consideration. But when you take the final hard number finish among his peers on that circuit, he was 24th. That's not high enough on any circuit except for maybe the Elites, where 20th or so makes the cut.

Now here's a fact: Older I get, the more I wish I did the Top 100 because the angler pool is bigger and better than it ever was. (But you know who wouldn't be happy then? No.101).

I think the list is great.....

Joe Uribe Jr. is a great angler and a better person, outside of John Morrow their probably isn't a nicer guy.

Lester Albury is a stick, he won Co-Angler of the year on the Everstart circuit. A non shared weight format. That is an accomplishment in itself.

Cameron Smith, in my opinion is one of the last true sticks from the San Diego City Lakes area. Dude isn't apart of the many cliques that litter this sport. He has shined in the Joe Seales era now he is doing it in the Tom Leedom era....

Speaking of? Where is Tom Leedom on your list? he was on this list last year. This year he did twice as much as he did the previous year. Cashed a check at the Open. And has won numerous AOY's here in San Diego. He can catch them anywhere even during the "Steroid Era" we had in San Diego.....

Congrats to Zaldain. Deserved and earned as far as I can see. The young man is well composed and apparently does his home work. Not easy to compete with a bunch of locals and he earned AOY honors. Now lets keep it rolling young man and best of luck to you.

How does Ken Mah not make the list with a top ten in the FLW Delta and Clearlake. No Bub with all the top finishes last year.

Ken Mah is definitely a miss in my opinion, he is a great stick with some nice finishes this year and a great guy on top of all that... Congratulations to all of you who made the list, Im sure this is not easy to do and you will never make everyone happy.

I understand that the list is created to create controversy blah blah blah, but all it honestly does, is make me not want to read anything else Mr. Kramer writes or has any part in. It is absurd year after year after year, yet we California bass anglers somehow give it legitimacy and eat up what this guy says as gospel.

No Bub Tosh? Are you kidding me? And Mike Tuck at 38? This guy is a threat, and a top five main stay at ANY tournament on any body of water in Northern California, ANYTIME of year, not to mention his Everstart win a few weeks ago. Matt Allen at 16?!?! ahead of Folkstead, Lintner, Z Thompson, Dee, Tuck and Lee?! WOOOWWWW...REAAAAALLLLLY?!

I think Mr. Kramer needs to find a new definition of his "research" because "diligent" is anything but fitting.

At least George puts his money where his mouth is, and posts a list.
It's a starting point. I'm sure he would be the first to say there are lots of worthy anglers who didn't make the list, but 40 is 40.
Maybe someone else should do their own homework, and post their own list, if they don't like his.

Mike hasn't quit fishing.......he just hasn't had time as of late. After 20 years on the river I wouldn't want to go head to head with him even if he hasn't fished a tourney as of late.

It's George's list. And the beauty of it is, you can make up your own Top 40 list. Got a problem with Mr. Kramer's list then go ahead and make up your own and post it here for comparisons sake. Maybe a few will post their own Top 40 list in a similar style as to George's list, i.e; 1-40 with a short narrative as to why.

You might even inspire George to consider others from your lists for his next Top 40 list, :D
