BASS Classic

Post by Gene Buchholz »

Just got a call from Mark Nicolette he is at the classic. His doors on his vehicle was froze shut that's how cold it is back there he said it supposed to get up to 18 degrees today.
The anglers are all staying in Tulsa and have to drive 1 1/2 hours to the lake and back to Tulsa for weigh-ins. They will check their live wells for dead fish before they leave the lake for the trip back to Tulsa for the big show.

That's what they get for having the Classic this time of year. I really hoped the new owners would have moved it back to where it should be, at the end of the season. Isn't that the reason to fish a series, make the championship. That year.

They are catching fish, though. But unlike the old axiom, "half the field is eliminated on the first day of the Classic," it's even more drastic this year. Looks like a lot of our guys are going to be watching BASStrak a lot sooner than they wanted...

The cold was ridiculous! Even with the proper cold weather gear, it would have still been ridiculous. Today was much nice though. Even with that long haul from Grove (Launch Site) to Tulsa, not one fish died all 3 days!
