Lowrance Sonic Hub

Post by mapleleafmick »

Anyone installed one on their boat. What do you think of it. Is the sound good. Is it worth the $299.00 purchase price?

I'm not a music guy so I don't have one in my boat but I spent this past weekend at Anglers Marine's Bass A Thon and was able to talk to a bunch of guys who do have them in their boat. These guys really like the Sonic Hub. For example, you can play your music you have on your iPhone by inserting it into the dock. While the phone is in the dock playing your music it is also charging. If you get a call the music will mute and you will hear the phone ring through the speakers. The dock will also play a usb thumb drive with music loaded on it and you also have AM and FM radio, no subscription obviously.

Got it installed last week and the SonicHub system is awesome! Wish I would have done it sooner... Am/Fm/Xm radio and music from most iPod/iPhone products. I think it is a "must have" if you are running the HDS units. Looking forward to some loud theme music at my next "drive up" weigh-in! lol

I was thinking about getting this. It shows you can shove your iPhone into the female receiver and play music from your playlist. BUT, it doesn't say anything about iPhone 4 or iPhone 5.

I heard there was a "uni-dock" deal that allows you to play other devices. I didn't really want to spend another $130 for an adapter to play music off my iPhone.

Anyone know if the 5 can fit into the regular sonic hub device, or do you really need that adapter?

Thanks!

The iPhone 4 will work in the standard Sonic Hub, however due to the design of the iPhone 5 it will not. In order to use the iPhone 5 you would have to purchase the Sonic Hub and the Uni-Dock.

The iPhone 5 is longer than the 4 and has a completely different connector. They make adapters that would allow you to plug the 5 into the standard dock, however it would not close and therefore would not protect the phone from water. The new Uni-Dock will not only work with the iPhones but many Androids also.
