Using a winch to part your rig.

Post by rexford »

Does anyone have any experience using a winch to park your rig? I am looking at some property that
would require me to pull up perpendicular to the parking spot. Unhook and spin the trailer 90 degrees
and then pull/push it up a 3% incline. An electric trailer jack to push is around $1700 and a winch to
pull is around $300

Winch would need to be AC and mounted to the garage floor
Winch would need a brake or tension to offset the incline
Wireless or long hand control so that boat could be manipulated during pull.

Any advise is appreciated.

Thanks,
M

The safest way in my view would be to put a hitch and ball set up on the front of the tow rig. I've launched hundreds of rental boats that way and its super easy.
the best way to catch a big one is don't lose um sharp hooks set drag retie!

I went to all the trouble of mounting a winch to the floor of my garage, I had a special yoke made to attach to the trailer so it would pull straight and everything. used it two or three times and decided it was too much trouble. I agree using a front mounted ball would be much easier and safer.

get a 4 x4 atv or utv they will move most all boats under 4000 pounds. I have launched numerous boats with a atv
