Motorguide question
Motorguide question
This is for the trolling motor experts. I have a 2000 motorguide brute 767 12/24v that has 5 speeds. The motor will run well on speed 4 but pops the breaker on 5. Upon closer looking at the seperate breakers, the positive side has a 40A and the negative side has a 20A breaker. On speed 5, the ground side pops, on 4 the hot side pops if motor is running constantly against the tide. I also see that motorguide offers a 50 and 60A breaker. Should I just replace them both with 50A breakers? This is the original motor that came with boat. Any help is welcome. This is my first bassboats. Thanks, Steve

Re: Motorguide question
You should have 50 amp breakers on both batteries. Pull the top cover off of the motor and make sure you don't have a couple of wires melted together.
