Temp. Incorrect on his-8

Post by 27015new »

I have a lowrance hds-8 that shows the temp. 25 degrees below the correct temp. The unit was checked out with a lowrance rep. And worked correctly. The unit is connected to a minnkota fortrex 80 w/built in sonar. I ve tried the two above texts to adjust the hds8 with no success.... The hds8 is not connected to any other units or transducers. All products are 2013 models. At wits end trying to solve this issue....any suggestions????

I would not use the universal (Generic) transducer in the Minn Kota. I would put a PDT/WBL Lowrance transducer on the trolling motor with a pipe clamp. This should eliminate your issue.

thank for the reply.....got it working, but had to adjust the temp. in the hds8 .2 percent, after going through the steps u listed on another post....question, why use an additional transducer????? is the minnkota sonor not reliable?

It's not that the Universal or Generic transducers that are built into the trolling motors are not reliable at all. The khz or kilohertz that the Generic ducers are set at are usually 196 or so, not 200 so you will usually see a little more detail if you use a Lowrance ducer. They are manufactured to specs to be the optimal choice for the head unit.

With that being said, if you like the picture you get with the built in ducer, don't change a thing!
