Post by NorCal90 »

Hello Anglers,
I hope this email finds everyone in good health and spirits. I wanted to send out info for our December fun event. This event will take place on Sat. Dec 6th and Sun. Dec 7th. The entry will be $130 basic entry just like all of our other events but with a twist, the top 6 teams from Saturdays’ competition will be invited back Sunday the 7th to compete for Sponsor prizes. The prizes which are absolutely free (no tourney fee holdout) and consist of 4 entrys’ to the Lake Oroville CTT “Working Man’s” Pro/Am Event to be held in Jan* as well as Rods from Dobyns Rods right here in Northern Ca. All Teams will compete on Sat., at the completion of the day we will do the regular payback ($100 per boat to place payback and $10 per boat to BigFish). The Top 6 Teams at the conclusion of Saturdays’ competition will be invited back to fish Sundays’ event. Now comes the “Twist”, Sundays’ event will be a Course Layout. The 6 teams will compete in a designated course for a period of time to be set up by NorCal90, every team participating on Sunday will leave with something. The details of Sundays’ event and course outline will be announced at the conclusion of Saturdays’ payout. I hope all of you enjoy what we are trying to do and if you want to fish an event that is FUN yet possibly profitable for you and your partner, please come out and enjoy a day fishing Lake Oroville.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone that made this possible, Chuck Patterson Toyota/Scion/Dodge of Chico, Bill Cook with California Tournament Trails Pro/Am Circuit as well as Richard Dobyns’ and the entire staff at Dobyns Rods, without all of you, we could not do any of this. We hope to see all of you and many more at our last FUN event of 2014 because come Jan. 2015 the Battle begins to see who will make the Year end Fish-Off for the NorCal90 Trail.

Sincerely,
Jason Bubier

Hello Anglers,
I would like to thank all of the 22 teams that came out to support our last fun event of the season. The weather started out a bit on the scary side with some rain and a lot of wind, but in true fashion it all subsided at a quarter to 7 for the blast off. We started off with a moment of silence and a last cast for fellow angler and friend, Mr. Bill Friend. After the morning rules all 22 teams blasted off to a great day of fishing on Oroville hoping to not only cash in on some cash money Saturday, but also trying to get in the top six at the end of the day to garner a spot for Sundays no entry fee fun event. In the end the team of Jesse Martin and Jared Walker bested a very competitive field with 10.88 and taking the win along with $1200, coming in a very close second was the team of Isaac Lawrence and Owen Thatcher with 10.78lbs and getting $676. 3rd place was the team of Ryan Friend and Clint Isbell with 10.46lbs and coming in 4th place with 9.96lbs including a 3.32lb spot for BigFish honors giving them a total of $506. Rounding out the top six teams were the teams of Mike Friend and his daughter Shelly Carr as well as Joe Hinkle/Glen Lockhart taking the last spot in Sundays fish-off.

After the weigh-in and payout was complete we announced the teams that were invited back to fish for Sundays sponsor prizes. The teams were also instructed as to the coarse layout and times for each of the holes. The lake was split into 3 holes with 2 teams in each, the North/Middle & South Forks, each team was given 1hr45min in each hole. At the end of the 3 timed holes the teams were all allowed to fish the main body only for the last 1hr45min. As an added twist the teams were not only not allowed to use A-Rigs or Float-N-Flies, but each team was given a bag with a rip bait/a crank bait/ a spinnerbait/ a jig/ and 4bags of plastics(beavers, brushogs, tubes & worms). The only thing they could use where the items in the bag. The looks on their faces was priceless, I even had 1 angler ask if he could borrow a rod……

During the weigh-in there was a BBQ from Dickey’s BBQ in YubaCity for all of the contestants and their families. The weigh-in was conducted on the down low so that the results could be kept secret while everyone had a delicious lunch. All teams left the day with sponsor product including weigh bags and the tackle packs that were purchased by NorCal90 for each team as well as Swimbaits from Reds Baits right here in Oroville, Dobyns Rods of YubaCity and also Entry’s to the California Tournament Trails Event here on Lake Oroville in Jan. In the end Jared Walker took 6th, Phil Garcia/Brad Marr took 5th getting a Dobyns rod, 4th place was Glen Lockhart/Joe Hinkle also getting a Dobyns rod, 3rd place was Isaac Lawrence/Owen Thatcher getting an Amateur Entry to the Oroville CTT Pro/Am in Jan, 2nd place was Mike Friend/Shelly Carr receiving a Pro Entry and last but not least with a whopping 12.76lbs was the team of Ryan Friend/Clint Isbell taking home the top prize consisting of a Pro & Amateur entry into the CTT event. I was pleased to hear that everyone had a great time and are looking forward to starting the new season in January in hopes of making the year end fish-off.

Thank you to everyone that came out and hope to see you all and more in Jan.
