Cant get shaded relief on new hds gen 2 touch 9

Post by Brad Davis »

Recently (last month) installed new hds gen 2 9" touch. Can not get the shaded relief to show. I have hds gen 2 touch 7" already so I'm familiar with the unit but placing them side by side to check the settings I still cant get shaded relief on the 9". It shows the icon but no changes. Updated most recent update today and still nothing. I have also tried restarting the unit back to factory settings. Thanks, Brad

Ok, I solved the problem myself. Just happened to have an old Western states In-site chip and put it in and it worked. The chip supplied with this unit looks as though someone had used a felt tip marker to cover over the original markings that read "Lake HD". So that was it, simple fix once I accidently figured it out. Hope this helps someone in the future who may have the same problem.

Good Job Brad. This is a good example of how to solve a problem on your own. You really can't hurt the units by going through the menu and trying to figure out your issue. By doing that kind of experimentation is how we all learn how to get the most out of our electronics, by playing with them.

I didn't get on and post any help with this question because the back and forth to try to figure out all the possibilities would have gone on for a long time and you would not have learned and gained the confidence you have by doing this troubleshooting by yourself. Good job!
