Pyramid lake is closed to all boating
Pyramid lake is closed to all boating
The lake will be drawn down 20 plus ft and put into Castaic due to a unknown emergency, the park staff didn't go into details.
So it's closed until May 2 as of now.

They had already ate them before the drawn down...poacher wrote:All those stripers will enjoy the nice bass fry way to go mwd
They've started pumping water back in today.
Remember these SoCal resovoirs are for water and they care nothing of the fisheries, so fisherman have to look out for there own. Pulling fish off beds to fill a bag for a tourney does more harm then a drawn down.
Our lakes up here spawn all the way into summer anyway.

Re: Pyramid lake is closed to all boating
I was returning from a Delta trip driving down Eye 5 on Saturday afternoon (Apr 30th) and thought it a bit strange not to see any watercraft at all on the lake on such a nice afternoon. That would explain it. The lake did appear to be at full pool when I drove by. Down at Castaic, the CA Water Resources chart shows a water level increase of 40 feet for the month of April alone. That's a lot of water. They are now forced to put all that surplus NorCal water down here in the south. That's how the system is designed. I'll be back at Castaic for some summer fishing after a two year sabbatical. It's actually starting to look like a lake again instead of the surface of the moon. Back to my home lake. Can't wait.
Have some fun out there .... Enjoy that time on the water !!

It's been re-opened according to the staff at the Vista del Lago center.
