2 stroke Optimax oil

Post by mark poulson »

I live on Sandmound, in Oakley.
Is there someone who sells bulk Optimax oil in my area?

Academy has been selling Premium Plus for $19 a gallon and free shipping. I have ordered 4 gallons three times now and they still had the deal 2 months ago.

Ringer, I see the Mystick Premium Plus for $19.99 a gallon, with free shipping if I buy two gallons.
I have a 2008 Optimax 115 with 600+- hours.
I am nervous about trying a new oil, but the price is terrific.

I use only "Optimax/DFI " oil from Mercury ! is what they recommend ' for the Opti's... It's around $45 a gallon on the shelf of your local dealers "Ouch" !my buddies & I pooled our $ " bought a 55 gal drum ! that brought the price down to a more acceptable $27 a gal

if you ever want to know the difference between Opti oil " & all the rest " just look at the inside of your prop !... with any other oil " it will be dirty!. or even black ! with Opti oil' it will run clean ! that's worth the extra $ to me !....

I'm pretty sure you can get refills at inland marine in Antioch. I go to boat masters in Livermore for my refills.

Thanks. I'll call Frank and see if he can sell me some.

Sorry, I don't recall the exact amount. I just remember it was way cheaper than buying bottles off the shelf. Careful though, they have tons of good tackle at boat masters that might tempt you!

I have been using the Quicksiler Premium Plus and I run a 2004 Mercury 250 EFI. That is what my dealer said to use and it works great. I am not changing to DFI just to give them another $20 a gallon.

Since an EFI is not a DFI, you would be good not to change. DFI oil is recommended for Optimax engines, Premium Plus for EFI.

phatbass,
I checked with Tanner at Boatmasters and he says it's $25/gallon, and that he uses it in his 225 Optimax.
Next time through Livermore I'll bring some empty jugs to refill.
Thanks again.
