Castaic H2O level

Post by callwakeup »

Water table shows Castaic at 92% full?
It's come up a bunch. Anyone have a picture of the lake with any relevant land mark?

It's been a while since it's been at this level.

Thanks all

It's going to be a whole new lake for spring, as long as they keep it full.
I couldn't catch 'em in half the volume of water the past few months--- ill never find em now :D

Ok. Question for you folks who know about state water flow.
Castaic water level is high and rising - is that from local rain and runoff- or are we getting water transported from nor cal down to is to fill it?

Although some has been natural run-off, from my understanding, almost all has been received from Folsom Lake by way of the SWP, through Pyramid and then Elderberry. Both confirmed, quagga infested lakes.

As of Feb 17 .... lake elevation is 1505.46 according to Cedec agency. I think 1510 is considered full pool. Nice to have the web cam back up and running.
Have some fun out there .... Enjoy that time on the water !!

When Castaic is a full pool, it is an amazing lake.
They can only retain/store water that comes through the Aqueduct. Any water that drains in from the surrounding watershed must be released down stream by law.

Mark - shout out to the CBC!
So are you saying that the lake managers at castaic will need to release water that we gained due to rain?
And how's the level of the lagoon

Yes, any water that is the result of runoff from the surrounding drainage basin, as opposed to what comes down through the Aqueduct, must be released downstream to the farmers. That's straight from Mike Iljin's lips (R.I.P.).
I think the Lagoon has to buy their water, but I don't know that for sure.

The lagoon was filled about two weeks ago. It was lapping at the rocks near the bridge leading to the upper lake.
