Testing GPS Receiver/Antenna? LGC 3000

Post by Richard - Sonora »

Hey folks. It seems that the networked LGC 3000 on my elderly Ranger may have bitten the dust!! After a lot of testing on my LMS 520c units the problem always points to the antenna. Lowrance tech confirmed that I had followed the correct procedures and that the life expectancy of those units was less than ten years. So, I have located and obtained a used replacement unit, but I need to test both my original and the replacement units.
Anyone have an LGC 3000 on their bote and can I swap in my units to confirm their ability??

Thanks, Richard - Sonora

Hello Richard,

Sorry for the delay in my response. I have been out of town working at Boat and Tackle shows.

Unfortunately those antennas are old enough that they have probably all been replaced as you can see from the lack of any response. If you find any out there now, they are the as old as your original and may have a very short life left. I would look for an LGC 4000 to replace the old LGC 3000. They are interchangeable as far as fittings go. The 4000 is newer and probably has more life left in it and it's faster than the older LGC 3000.

compatibility of the LGC 4000 by the Lowrance tech. Problem is finding one. I did find a "new" LGC 3000 which is on the way. We shall see. Thanks again. Richard
