I would suggest the state park nice and clean also has a launch ramp and is in the middle of the lake.

Campgrounds at State Park are closed TFN due to all the flooding this winter. Many if the resorts there also have areas to camp and if they have a ramp it's normally included. The casino has an RV park that you could camp in and you get a slip for your boat also.

What type of camping? Are you in an RV? Do you need an electrical hook-up? Do you need showers?

M&M camp grounds out of Clear Lake Oaks or my preference would be to call the Limit Out and see if they have bungalows available. The launch ramp near M&M is free and is the same ramp if you stay at the limit less then a 1/2mile from either spot.

Fishing should be great at Clear Lake in the end of May -

The Edgewater Resort is probably the best for tent camping. It has electrical, showers, and a nice ramp.
I was on the the State Park site and it looks like the State Park may not be open for camping yet due to flooding. It is pretty minimal. I don't think it has electrical. It didn't when I checked it out a few years ago. I don't know if it has showers.
Konocti Casino has a big parking lot on the side of the casino with water, electrical, showers, and a nice ramp on the other side. It's good if you are sleeping in your truck or RV, but it is too far north if you don't fish the north end of the lake.
There are a few other minimal campsites around the lake. Google "camping at Clear Lake, CA" for pictures and more info.

What are the bungalows like? I'll be there in August and I haven't decided where to stay. Is it safe? I don't want to have to park/drive on dirt or unhook my boat if I don't have to.

I heard that M&M campgrounds has been sold and is no longer available for camping. Kind of a bummer, it was convenient.
