Helix 5 vs Helix 7

Post by Wolfeman »

I'm trying to decide which one to put on the bow of my R80 Ranger.
I have the 7 with SI and DI in the console, and now I want to put a new unit on the bow with just DI.
The bow of my boat is pretty tight so size is a concern. I'm pretty sure I can wedge the 7 in so it's mostly out of the way.

My question: Is the info presented on the 5 the same as the 7 but just on a bigger screen?
Or does the 7 show 'more' info with better detail?

Thanks,
- Wolfeman

I went from a 7" to a 12" Helix and the bigger screen really helps in my opinion. Oh, and it fits just fine on my Tracker 175, size shouldn't be much of an issue!

Agonized between a 5 or a 7, went with a 5 & it was a mistake, just to hard to see even with a a ram mount. Going to lick my wounds & get a 7

If you fish on your hands and knees a 5" will do just fine!

If you use an aftermarket mount (such as RAM, for example) you should be able to position the larger unit for best visibility and still be out of the way.

Thanks for the input guys.
I kinda made my mind up and went with MileHi's take. 'If I got a 5 and wasn't happy I'd be kicking myself for not getting the 7'
I'll figure out how to rig it to keep it out of my way.
Thanks again.
