PORT CLINTON - An Indiana man has been jailed after being charged this week with his third walleye poaching violation on Lake Erie in less than a month.

Randy L. Scott, 48, of Mooresville, Indiana, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly being over the bag limit of the popular game fish.

Scott’s arrest came just a week after he pleaded guilty to two fourth-degree misdemeanor charges for “multiple trips” and was sentenced to a suspended jail term of 25 days on the condition that he have no similar offenses within a year and remains law abiding, according to court records.

As part of the prior sentence, Scott also was ordered to pay restitution, $250 in fines, and $58 in court costs, and had his fishing license suspended for two years.

Poachers are breaking the law. If they think they are above it, they need to be fined and/or jailed. I have trouble feeling bad about the penalties they have to pay.
