Baitfish in or baitfish out?
Baitfish in or baitfish out?
Hey fellas, was wondering how you can tell if baitfish were moving into a cove from a point or coming out of a cove towards a point. It would matter to a bass and how they'll set up for ambush but how can you determine the direction of baitfish? Thanks in advance!

Re: Baitfish in or baitfish out?
That is a tough question because baitfish are very mobile and move a lot - even in the same day. They tend to move shallow during the spring for spawning and then move out as most fish do when the lake begins to drop and the spawn is over. Bait fish are very active and moving all the time. They are hard to pattern. Your meter is your key from late spring to late fall. Look for the bait and you will find the bass - usually!!! Here one day and gone the next!!

If Threadfin Shad are the baitfish in question watch the grebes feeding on the Shad school to determine the direction the school is moving.

Ahh I forgot about the bird indicator! I've stolen plenty of white herring spots from them.
