Fishing Oroville Lake 10/18/2018

Got an early launch again right at 6:30 am, so I can be tossing worms at 7 am. Ran the same exact pattern as last week, good fishing but no big schools or larger fish. Hate the pre-dawn winds during launch, my little Klamath gets water coming over the back during launch every single time and eventually soak my feet during the morning fishing. Bite was decent, no large fish, all the fish 13 1/2" to 14 1/2", but nice a solid fish as they generally are this time of year. Landed 10 fish today, lost one.

Healthy looking fish! Thanks for the report! Maybe a bilge or sponge for that water that creeps into the boat?

Since it's not a bass boat, have to go backwards with trolling motor and me facing the rear with a foot in the gas tank area. Just an inch or so of water, might add a small wood piece to keep my foot high and dry!! Thanks, got me thinking about a fix.

Depending on how long you plan on having the boat, I've seen several guys get pretty ingenious to fabricating a mount for the trolling motor on the front of the boat, which may give you a lot better boat control... something else to keep in mind when you're pondering any fixes or next steps...

Thanks, thought about that lots, but jumping over the trolling motor in front is a slight issue for me when launching and putting back in the trailer. Appreciate your thought, but so used to working the boat backwards, will keep it the same as now, just add a piece of wood to keep my foot dry.

This might help you with the problem of water coming over the back of your boat and if you back troll these work great.

Cool guards, but it's only happens during launch on the windy days at Bidwell ramp, after launch, no issues. Thanks for the tip. Might just make a smaller version.
