No Structure Scan on Carbon

Post by Tony M »

Just bought a Ranger with an HDS-12 Gen-2 @ the console and an HDS-12 Carbon on the bow. Boat has an LSS-1 structure scan installed on the transom. Structure scan worked on the first trip out @ the console. I switched and put the Carbon @ the console and the Gen-2 @ the bow. On a fishing trip today the structure would not work @ the console, where the Carbon is now located. I changed no wiring. Will the Carbon work with the LSS-1, or do I have another issue?

The Carbon unit reads the Structure Scan by plugging the transducer cable directly into the back of the unit. You will need a short converter cable to go from LSS 1 to the Carbon unit. A Carbon unit has a plug receptor on the back of it that is designed to accept an LSS 2 transducer, the pin configuration is different from the LSS 1 to the LSS 2.

The cable that plugged into the HDS Gen-2 fit into the receptacle on the Carbon. I saw an older post that said to check the source. I found that I had "This Unit" selected. When I selected source it recognized the LSS-1. I selected that as the source and it seems to be working now. Haven't had it on the water yet.
Thanks for your reply Ken.
