Hi all,
Built a 10 'X 20' shed for storage. 8' ceiling at the front & 7.5' on the back side. I would be interested in knowing what storage systems I could used to have rods be stored safely but still be accessible? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY TIPS OR GUIDANCE!!
I have approx. 30 rods to organize.....

Rod storage systems?
Re: Rod storage systems?
Hey doc, I would be concerned about the temperatures in the shed have you put in an exhaust fan or gable fan to keep the heat down? I think the heat could do some permanent damage to the epoxy and resin.

Re: Rod storage systems?
The best way to store 30 rods is in a rod rack. I usually have a bunch but I'm out right now. I'll try and send a pic of a simple one.
I have seen a bunch of guys build a hanging rack out of PVC pipe. These work well too.

Gary, no concerns with temperatures or climate?

Honestly Ash I haven't seen any issues with the newer epoxies and coatings. The older stuff, yes. I believe sun damage to be the worst. I also don't like to see them stored where the tips are bent against the wall either. But, I'll admit I still do this too

If you are storing rods with reels on them I would be concerned about heat damage to the line on the reels during high summer heat. Just something else to consider.ash wrote:Hey doc, I would be concerned about the temperatures in the shed have you put in an exhaust fan or gable fan to keep the heat down? Re: Rod storage systems?
Hi all,
Thanks for the responses and concerns! Right now I have one rod rack that holds 16 rods.I also have some heavier sticks on horizontal holders up high and out of the way. I do have venting (high and low) which creates a nice flow of air. (This is at Clear Lake and God knows it gets hot there!) Due to shady location & air flow the temp never gets too bad inside. I also put 2 2'X2' tinted skylights for natural light. You got me thinking of adding a couple of solar powered fans to move air through the unit on a regular basis though!
Gary-I had an idea after I saw your photo-if I mount 2 of those rod holders on a couple of sets of horizontal slides ,they could be tucked away for storage then slid out for full access ?! I'll let you know how it comes out !
Thanks again for the insights.
