Wanting to upgrade my Curado bearings. I’ve been researching different brands. Boca, hawgtech etc..
Any suggestions on which route to take?

Re: Bearing upgrade
I've got a friend, pro nor-cal basser, that used Boca's on a few reels. Got really tired of the noise, even with their light oil, went back to stock. Just sayin'. I used to upgrade my Curado bearings to smoother ABEC 5 bearings from Shimano and that made them a little smoother. Boca and other ceramics are ABEC 7 ratings or higher. That rating is the bearing finish smoothness I think?RA8R55 wrote:Wanting to upgrade my Curado bearings. I’ve been researching different brands. Boca, hawgtech etc..

Not a fan of Quantum reels, however, their light-weight synthetic reel oil, 'Hot Sauce', works excellent for me on stock bearings.

Re: Bearing upgrade
not as needed in that reel vs. the old greenis.
but if your experiencing a roughness or noise its probably not the spool bearings. That reel is notorious for xship bearing noise. Just fyi. If your just looking to upgrade Bocas are fine.
