Scale recommendation?

Post by wildthing jr »

Hi All,

I need to replace my old rapala digital scale. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good scale up to $60? I normally just use a beam for culling during tourneys. I figure that's the best way. But I like to have an accurate reliable scale if I catch a big one while fun fishing.

Thank you for any thoughts

I currently have an old Berkley Tournament scale and use a balance beam. The Berkley has never done me dirty and weighs within ounces when i self calibrate to a 5lb weight.

This one is killer. You can save up to 8 fish and comes with culling balls. makes culling out fish a breeze.

A decade ago I purchased Jennings Ultra Sport 30 didgital scale because of it's accuracy within 0.01% and it could be certified by local Weights & Measures for IGFA catches.
Today for recreational use you can buy a luggage scale for less then $10' that is similar, very accurate that works on the same technology as the Ultra Sport and accurate within .1%.

I have this same one and have been using it for almost 2 years. Really happy with it and use the culling clips every tournament! Only thing I would like is if the culling clips had different colors...trying to read the little numbers on them can be a challenge!

I'd use that scale with the Cal Coast Clip N Cull. I have been eyeballing this one too good to hear that it has stood up for two years my last rapala scale did me dirty and got a hazy screen after a year of being in my boat. My good ole berkley stored in the same hatch is on its third battery and has been going since the 90' :D   damn im old - like Poulson

The one that I have has a different ball system they are color coded and have the cal coast clips on them.

Now that I think about it it did come with those red balls and I just bought the cal coast system and swapped em out!
