On Sunday, 7/21/19, 73 kayak anglers assembled at Sugar Barge Marina on the California Delta for the Yak-A-Bass Duel on the Delta event. The morning started out nice and cool but warmed up to the 90s by day’s end. The wind picked up early and continued throughout the day up to 20 mph. Water temps ranged from 76 to 82 degrees. The bite was reported to be active with plenty of fish in the 10 to 14” range. The better fish were hard to come by per Tournament Director James Snyder.

There were only 24 5-fish limits submitted out of the 73 anglers. Per Snyder, fish were caught with just about every technique from topwater to Senkos to drop shot to reaction baits. Once all the judging was complete, it was Brandon “Bam” Miller on top for his third straight kayak tournament. Brandon has been on a roll all season. The Chatterbait was responsible for his record-setting 2 day total of over 200 inches at the last Delta tournament and it didn’t let him down on Sunday. His 87” 5-fish limit bested the next closest angler by 4 inches. In addition to the win, he submitted the Big Fish of the day measuring 20.75”.

Here’s your top ten:
1. Brandon “Bam” Miller – 87 inches
2. Vinny Dau – 83 inches
3. Damian Thao – 82.5 inches
4. Garrett Clark – 81.5 inches
5. John Rush – 81.25 inches
6. Greg Blanchard – 81.25 inches
7. Michael Nicolaysen – 79.5 inches
8. David Borofka – 77.5 inches
9. Isiah West – 77.5 inches
10. Mike Ensign – 77.5 inches

Up next for Yak-A-Bass is the KBF Regional Championship / Yak-A-Bass Chris Laird Memorial Event on Clear Lake on 8/23 and 8/24/19 (2 day event). In order to fish the KBF Regional Championship you must be in the top 200 in points for KBF for the region. The Chris Laird Memorial Event is open to all anglers with no membership required. Snyder is welcoming all anglers to come out and fish in remembrance of Chris.
