The First Annual Lakeport Bait and Tackle Open Kayak and Belly Boat Tournament was held on Sunday 8/25/19.
It was Tas Moua of Fresno, CA who ended up on top of a strong 40 boat field filled with experienced anglers.

Tas’ winning area was in the north end of the lake. He found the area during pre-fish and fine-tuned it during game day. In pre-fish he found a hot frog bite a good spinnerbait bite on the grass flats and he decided to stick with that plan. He started out frogging for the first 30 to 45 minutes. Then he switched over to the spinnerbait. While the light was still low, he started with chartreuse with gold blades but then once the sun came up, he switched to nickel blades and a more natural pattern shad skirt. When the sun was high it was time to start throwing the frog again. He found that to be most productive during mid-day on the cheesy mats. He stuck his big fish of the day on the frog in the cheese.

Up next for Tas is the ABA Clear Lake Team Event on 9/7/19 where he will be fishing with his brother. He’s hopeful his pattern and spots will still be producing so he can capture another win.

Here’s your top ten from the event:
1. T. Moua – 90.75 inches
2. A. Walden – 90.5 inches
3. J. Dutcher – 86.25 inches
4. O. Williams – 85.5 inches
5. D. Thao – 84 inches
6. G. Blanchard – 83.75 inches
7. J. Graves – 83 inches
8. D. Zimmerschied – 80.75 inches
9. D. Oien – 80.5 inches
10. J. Martinez – 78.75 inches

The best inches to weight chart estimate I've seen is this one, but it still varies from lake to lake and even fish to fish because of girth also. My estimate on 90.75" is ~17 lbs IMHO.
