A Letter to our Followers from Trapper Tackle CEO David Freeman

Dear Fellow Anglers,

First, I want to say that developing and introducing our innovative “box hook” and related terminal tackle to the angling community has been a wild ride.

I think we unconditionally proved that the boxhook is simply a more effective design. It allows you to hook and land more fish regardless of size or species.

Thousands of anglers all over the world have had this same experience. However, designing the most effective hook in the world is only one part of the story; manufacturing and regulatory compliance also play a substantial role.

As a small company, we are finding it increasingly more difficult and expensive to do business in China. We have identified only one Chinese manufacturer that can produce all of our hooks, leaving our ongoing supply of future inventory at risk. At the same time, here in the US, the shipping, customs and import duties, coupled with the 10% Federal Excise Tax on terminal tackle manufactured offshore, make it increasingly less profitable to be a hook manufacturer. Therefore, we have decided to permanently discontinue the manufacture of our Trapper Tackle hooks.

We know this a big disappointment to our loyal following. To reward you for your support and enthusiasm for Trapper Tackle, we want to give you a final opportunity to purchase the remaining hook inventory and related products at an attractive price.

So, beginning immediately and ending on Wednesday, October 22st at midnight, all customers can purchase as much product as they want on trappertackle.com at a 50% discount. This is a one-time offer, and no further reductions beyond this 50% discount will be issued. Shipping will be regular mail.

All unsold hooks and products will be donated to qualified charities by year-end. (Note: This sale is for U.S. orders only and via regular mail; no international orders or expedited shipping will be honored.) We have met some amazing people on this journey. This alone was worth the experience, plus my new lifetime supply of box hooks. We thank everyone who supported Trapper Tackle along the way.

We hope the great angling experiences with our products continue for many years to come. I am looking forward to fishing more for pleasure now, and I hope to see you out on the water!

Yours Sincerely,

David Freeman
