Truck Break in at Folsom Lake

Post by Topwater All Day »

Heads up, I went to Folsom last night to run my boat for a couple hours and my truck was broken into. Smashed out my back passenger door window. Only thing of value was my checkbook, which they took. Spent this morning closing that account and having a new window put in... :?

Granite Bay launch between 4-7 pm...watch out and f you are launching there!

That is a bummer. Hopefully you reported it. I have fished there for 30 years and never had a problem, knock on wood!!! Were you at the upper or lower lot? Thanks for the heads up.

That’s terrible Rob, I hope someone catches them. Sorry to hear. FYI, you are allowed to conceal a weapon on you while you are in the act of fishing or transporting yourself to and from fishing.

Careful out there giving legal advice - this portion of the law right here needs a lot more of a qualification - if you are walking to your fishing spot that is transporting to and from not in your vehicle - When in doubt ask an attorney or even a friendly LEO.

California Penal Code, Section 12025, prohibits carrying concealed firearms in California, but Section 12027 provides the following exemption to this prohibition: "Licensed hunters or fishermen carrying pistols, revolvers or other firearms capable of being concealed upon the person while engaged in hunting or fishing, or transporting those firearms unloaded when going to or returning from the hunting or fishing expedition." Remember that some areas that allow fishing, such as state and national parks, and some incorporated areas where fishing is allowed prohibit the possession of any firearm. Make sure to check on the local laws where you plan to fish.

Sorry to hear about that. In decades I've NEVER heard of theft problems at Folsom, and I've always thought the high gate fee kept out the rif-raf. Can I ask, was your checkbook visible in your truck?

I really want to get an alarm for my truck that can call my cell to let me know something's up. I'd like that same alarm to synch with a BOAT alarm so they BOTH are covered at some of the seedy places we overnight to fish, y'all know what I mean? If anyone knows of such an alarm, PLEASE share with us!

I did some design work on a product at a company called OwlCam , located in Palo Alto .
It's a real time camera system that operates off the car battery , but is always on .
Example --- if you launch your boat , park your truck , the Owlcam stays on and instantly sends a message to your phone if someone comes around your vehicle , and/or trys to break in , it records everything happening and even allows you to set off an alarm or talk to the system . It's also very helpful when driving , Example --- if someone swerves into your lane to sideswipes you , without a witness , it's a he said / she said scenario , with the Owl cam , it gives a 360 live view of what happened , records it , send to your insurance ---covered and no debate on fault .
AAA is one of their original VC investors and a very popular product .
Tight lines ,
Robb

Upper lot at Granite Bay, under a light pole. My checkbook was in my center console, not in sight and I have dark windows too. There was a backpack in the back are that wasn't visible either...they didn't open a door, so no alarm went off. Smash and grab and there was nothing of value...just a headache for me to have to deal with all of it!
