Rod,
I use a 7'4" Smoke frog rod for the mid sized ploppers, up to the 130. The smallest ones I use a med. heavy crank rod.
I don't throw the largest size, the 190, because it's too big for me anymore. My days of throw 6 oz swimbaits are long gone.

You and me.
I throw swim jigs and smaller things NO lures over 2oz.
Thanks for the advice I have and old swimbait rod I had made years ago was thinking of it but wasn't sure if it was too stiff for the treble hooks. on ploppers

Re: What size Rod for Wopper Plopper ?
Rod,
I use straight braid, so my rods have plenty of power to get the hooks buried, even with a little flex in the tip.
I throw my ploppers on straight 50lb braid, use KVD short shank EWG trebles, and I don't lose fish. I use #1 on the belly, and #2 on the back for the 110-130. If a fish comes off it's because the hook is dull.
When they hit the belly hook, they turn and thrash, and the tail hook gets them in the side.
I use the med. heavy crank rod for the smaller ploppers because it casts them better, but I still use straight braid. I downsize to #2 belly, #4 back hooks.
If your swimbait rod works for frogs, it will work for ploppers.
