Dobyns Rods contingency for WWBT

Postby Gary Dobyns » Thu Dec 19, 2019 8:05 pm

When I teamed with Matt and Angie Morgan to launch the Wild West Bass Trail (WWBT) we did it for the anglers. There was a huge need for a strong circuit in the West. We paid over 100% cash back at our events, installed off-limits periods, 7-fish limits, polygraph testing, and added TV and web coverage. Matt and I are lifelong tournament fisherman who wanted to create a circuit for fishermen by fishermen in underserved market – the West.
The anglers trusted us and they showed up for events. WWBT was a huge success because of the anglers. However, business climate and opportunity made it such that I’d have been a fool not to move my rod company and primary residence to Texas. With that move, I knew it would be too difficult to set up a rod shop in Texas while devoting the attention to WWBT that it needed to become the preeminent circuit in the West. Therefore, Matt, Angie and I sold WWBT. My intention, however, was to always support the circuit and more importantly the western anglers.
Many western anglers and dealers strongly support Dobyns Rods. For that, we are eternally grateful and we will continue to support our customers with a direct contingency program for WWBT anglers using Dobyns Rods. As many of you saw, WWBT has decided to move in a new direction with the circuit’s sponsorship. This came as a surprise to us but has created a new opportunity for us to re-package the resources we used to split between WWBT and the western anglers so that we can devote 100% of our available sponsorship commitment in this area solely to the anglers.
To those ends, keep your eyes peeled for a new contingency program exclusively for WWBT Pro-Am and Team Anglers in 2020. We will announce the details of this support prior to the first WWBT Shasta event of 2020 and can’t wait to hand out thousands and thousands of dollars to Dobyns Rods anglers in 2020 and beyond!
I'm planning on being at several events and also the Sac ISE Show. I look very forward to seeing everyone soon. THX!!!
