Used Bass Boat motor question

Post by ironhavoc »

I am looking to buy a used bass boat, came across one I was interested in but was concerned about the hrs on the motor over 5700 rpm. Here is the print out from the owner I was sent of the last motor diagnostic. Let me know what you guys think?

Looks like he makes some long runs. About 28% of the time he's running mostly full throttle or close to it. Not necessarily a bad thing.

I'd want to know more about why he was 50 min+ with low oil. I'd also want a compression report. And how long ago this report was. Also, any motor work that has been done.

I was thinking of passing on even looking at it after seeing this report. Looks like it was ran wide open for extended periods. Plus as Mitch pointed out about 50min of run time on low oil. Looks like it my have been ran hard and not taken care of properly or at least not a well cared for motor.

This report was done back in Aug 2019 per the date on the print out. He said it was just serviced recently at the shop but didnt provide paper work.

I just wanted some other opinions on it.

For all you know he could fish lake mead or the delta. Your low oil e buzzer comes on with one quart left. Doesn't mean it was ran without oil. Best bet have a new print out with compression
