That's a good payout. Add it up....they paid back all $6000 minus $280 which is about %95 payback.

Newjen website explains their payout on the front page.
Guaranteed Payouts & Awards
Our payouts are structured based on paying 1 fishing position per 5 boats entered with 80% of entry fees being returned to anglers via tournament payout, Trophy/AOY/TOC Fund. In addition, 1st place team members will receive a NewJen Bass custom trophy. 2nd place and 3rd place team members will all receive a NewJen Bass plaque. 1 plaque will be awarded to the Big Fish angler.

This is just my opinion but Ive never understood the expectation of the whole100% payback thing how would newjen survive as a company if they payback 100%. Who pays for all the costs and not to mention the time effort and liability of running a company dealing with anglers traveling to tournaments and all that comes along with the whole thing. Its not like they are saying the pay 100 and then dont. They are saying they pay 80% of entrys back in turnaments and other things they list. Maybe I am missing the point.

Entry fee was $200 plus $90 dollars in options that you could get into. If I heard correctly, 26 teams got in the options. The payback is 1 spot for every 5 paid entries instead of number of boats. AOY winners from last season do not pay an entry which is why they paid 5 spots instead of 6.

From NewJen Bass Tournaments

Hi everyone!
It has come to our attention that some anglers are confused with our 2020 payout schedule. Although change can be uncomfortable, our members lobbied for free AOY entries and always having a check-in team. Our 2020 rules state exactly how this all affects the pay scale. Some have not taken the time to thoroughly read through them and we strongly encourage you to do so for the sake of understanding. Unlike most (or all) other California team circuits, we post exactly how we disburse all funds on our website for ALL to see.
Unfortunately, people assume that all boats in the field have paid entries and options and that is rarely the case. You cannot multiply the amount of boats in the standings by the entry and option fees and assume that that is the total purse. That method will undoubtedly get you an incorrect percentage. If you like thorough details, please visit NewJenBass.com. If you just want the bare-bones percentage we are happy to provide the calculation for any event. Here are the calculations for last weekends events.

• Jan 4, 2020-New Melones:
28 paid entries, 26 paid options. Total paid to anglers and set aside for AOY and TOC: 8O%

• Jan 5, 2020-Millerton:
38 paid entries, 33 paid options, total paid to anglers and set aside for AOY and TOC: 80%

Although I apologize for my abnormally lengthy post, its important to us to adhere to the reason we started NewJen Bass: FULL TRANSPARENCY and raising the bar on tournaments for California Anglers. From the looks of watching circuits evolve it seems like we have done exactly that and, with your support, will continue to do so for years to come!
