So, are you ready for some GOOD NEWS? Boy, the news has just been a huge bummer for the last few months. Well, here is some GREAT NEWS for us bass anglers… The number four rated bass fishery in the United States has been on fire! For the past few weeks the bass fishing has rated excellent on Clear Lake. As my good ‘ol bass fishin’ friend Steve says, “If you can’t catch bass on Clear Lake right now, you should just stay home and rake leaves!”

Bass are being caught all over the lake. But, the Red Bud arm of the lake has been producing many trophy bass. The hot baits have been jigs and swimbaits, slowly pulling them along off the bottom. Also, drop shottin’ along the tules has getting angler hooked up. For the early risers, try throwing a frog near tules edges and over the weed matts. After the sun comes up the bass move to deeper water or under docks. Try skipping a Senko, Brushog or sweetbeaver under the docks.

If bass fishin’ is not your thing, how about Crappie fishin’?

Fishing has been good but with the warmer weather (100 all this week)the dreaded algae blooms are back . Not bad early in am but the north end is now affected also.

Yes the algae is back !.... hope there won’t be the huge fish “die off” , like a few years ago !, they should not be allowed to continue the weed spraying, during algae blooms ! it like pouring gasoline on a fire !, & contributes the low oxygen levels ....
