New boat warranty question

Post by Justin Hawkins »

I just put down a deposit on a 2021 Ranger Rt178. I got an email from the loan person asking about platinum service and extended warranties and such. Is there a general consensus on the subject? Not sure if I should or not.

You should have 3 yrs now ..... I would add warranty to that for as long as I could.
The coverage is costly. Pretty sure you can add 4 years.

The additional cost of extending the warranty would have been best negotiated as part of the sales price with the Dealer ..... and not on the phone with Mercury as an "add-on"

With the pandemic and boat sales way up, I wonder how much price negotiation is possible these days?

So why the email after the deposit? I believe you have 3 years while under factory warranty to purchase the platinum product protection policy?

Good luck!
